This guided loop of the Cultural Center features many of our institutional and residential gems, including four acclaimed museums, the main branch of the Detroit Public Library, the College for Creative Studies, the Scarab Club, the Hecker mansion, and historic homes of Ferry Avenue.

Explore a Detroit neighborhood that has seen it all—from rural settlement to boomtown, charming neighborhood, funky artists’ hangout, Skid Row, and Piety Hill. This guided walking tour begins at Detroit’s famous Avalon Bakery and continues on to brew pubs, boutiques, loft developments, fire stations, and several 19th century Victorian homes.
Avalon Bakery is located at 422 West Willis Street, just west of Cass Avenue, two blocks west of Woodward.

Walk in the footsteps of Henry Ford, Henry Leland, and the Fisher Brothers as knowledgeable guides bring Detroit’s rich automotive history to life. Tours begin at The Model T Automotive Heritage Complex, a new interactive museum, workshop, and event facility at the birthplace of the Model T. From there, the tour takes you through the area around Detroit’s Piquette Street and Woodward Avenue to trace the place where innovation began.
T-Plex is located four blocks south of Grand Boulevard and three blocks east of Woodward. Parking is free on the street, and tour guides will meet you in front of the building.
Tickets:$15 per person; $12 for Preservation Wayne members, seniors and students. Payment by cash, check, and MasterCard or Visa is accepted. All proceeds from this tour go to ongoing restoration work at T-Plex.
